Watermelon Can Help Prevent Cancer

Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant that has been shown to help prevent cancer. Watermelon contains more lycopene than any other fresh fruit or vegetable. In fact, fresh watermelon contains higher levels of lycopene than fresh tomatoes - a two-cup serving of watermelon contains an average of 18.16 milligrams and one medium-sized tomato contains just four milligrams.

Watermelon contains no fat or cholesterol, is high in fiber and vitamins A and C and is a good source of potassium. Plus, with amino acids like citrulline and arginine, watermelon helps maintain the arteries and promotes heart health.
